WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – 01st March, 2019) Authorities in the state of Texas are arresting on average 1,000 illegal aliens on the US-Mexico border per day, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said in a press release.
“Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector continues to apprehend large numbers of illegal aliens, averaging nearly 1000 per day,” the release stated on Thursday. “A majority of these arrests are family units and unaccompanied children from Central and South America, which greatly impact the number of agents available to carry out the border security mission.
Trump declared a national emergency earlier this month to free up $8 billion in Federal funding to build a wall on the southern border where the administration claims there is a humanitarian crisis. On Wednesday, the US House of Representatives passed a resolution to terminate the national emergency declaration.
