WASHINGTON: The result of DV Lottery 2022 has been made public. The results of the DV lottery have been made public from 10:45 pm Nepali time on Saturday. The DV lottery was filled till November 10 after the application for DV was opened from October 7.
The results of the DV lottery will be released on May 8 at 12 noon Washington time, according to the US Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs.
The US State Department mandates the annual diversity immigrant visa program. Article 203 (c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act provides for the classification of individuals from countries who immigrated to the United States at historically low rates as “diversity immigrants.”
50,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be provided for the Fiscal Year 2022.
Lottery applicants (“winners”) must meet simple but strict eligibility criteria to be eligible for the DV program. Visas are distributed in six geographical areas and no country in each region will receive more than seven percent of the number of DVs available in any one year.
Enter your confirmation number and personal information by clicking on “Status Check” at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ to find out if you have passed the DV lottery. You must use the Entrant Status Check to find out if you have been selected for DV-2022 and to check your immigrant visa interview appointment date.
The US government does not notify you directly. The Entrant Status Check is the only source of instructions on how to proceed with your application process. The Entrant Status Check will be available on E-DV’s website from May 8 to September 30, 2022.
The DV winners of 2022 will start getting visas from October 1. Those who meet the eligibility criteria and their eligible family members must complete the application process and issue a DV visa by September 30, 2022. The DV will not be issued after that date, nor will any family member be able to obtain a DV after that date to move in with the main applicant.
The number of DV winners for the year 2021 is 3801. They have been delayed in getting visas since October 1, despite Trump’s immigration ban. But now that the Biden administration has lifted the ban, it has not given priority to issuing visas.
The DV winners of 2021 have to get their visas by the end of September. Nepal is the second DV winner in Asia in 2021.
